Research activity is an essential component of our faculty, reflected in the commitment of the Faculty of Business staff to enhance the quality and impact of research. Faculty members have been able to establish their own research priorities within their individual academic career plans.
The Faculty of Business is recognized for its scholarly work in three main areas:
- Tourism, hospitality and sustainable destinations – fostering interdisciplinary research on sustainable destination development, the management of tourism experiences, and innovation in hospitality.
- Entrepreneurship, SMEs and Business Innovation – examining how small and medium-sized enterprises scale, build resilience and adopt digital technologies, as well as the dynamics of entrepreneurial ecosystems.
- Governance, digital transformation and responsible policies – analyzing strategic decision-making processes, the influence of emerging technologies on organizations, and the design of ethical and effective public policies.
Between 2019 and 2022, a total of 88 articles were published, most of them in journals indexed in Web of Science (Core Collection and ESCI) and ERIH+.
Tourism and hospitality, along with event management, which clearly dominate, representing about one third of the total publications reported for additional funding in 2023. Research interests in the area of sustainable development constitute the second major field of interest within the faculty. These are followed by general studies dedicated to business, agribusiness, food, agriculture, and consumer behavior. Given the context, the issues and challenges generated by the COVID-19 pandemic are addressed in about one tenth of the published articles.
